1. Water is essential to flush out toxins released during the massage, recommended 3 litres for 3 consecutive days after treatment.
2. Choose to stay relaxed; avoid rushing back into daily activities.
3. Abstain from alcohol and caffeine for at least 12 hours to enhance the detoxifying process.
4. Take it easy on strenuous activities for up to 3 days to allow muscles to relax and collagen fibers to solidify.
5. Maintain gentle movements and stretches to relieve post-massage soreness.
6. Follow personalised aftercare advice from your professional massage therapist.
7. Correct your posture to benefit from muscle loosening effects.
8. Opt for light, nutritious meals rather than overeating.
9. Specific to head massages, delay washing hair if oils are used; choose soothing activities and low lighting for optimal results.
10. If experiencing discomfort post-massage, use hot water bottles alongside light stretching or take a soothing bath; avoid anti-inflammatory medications, the inflammatory response is part if the healing process wich needs to be respected in order for the affected area to heal efficiently.
11. Feeling emotional after a massage treatment is normal, the body holds onto trauma and emotions in the form of chemical reaction inside knots and tense tissue. Often as the body is relaxed and channels opened by the treatment these feelings can resurface therefore emotional processing in a safe space is a powerful part of the healing process.
We've provided post-treatment instructions for your convenience:
- Ear wax/residue may naturally emerge from the ear within the next 24-48 hours, which is considered normal.
- Avoid immersing your head in water for 24 hours post-treatment and minimise exposure to cold air in your ears.
- Refrain from inserting anything, including cotton buds, into your ears.
- Stay hydrated throughout the day.
- Keep a relaxed state, steering clear of stress-inducing activities.
- Abstain from alcohol and caffeine for at least 12 hours.
- Schedule monthly treatments for optimal results.
- Opt for lighter meals post-treatment to let your body focus on healing rather than digestion.
- Experiencing headaches, muscle aches, sleepiness, or increased thirst in the first 48 hours is normal.
- Avoid dairy products as they can lead to mucus residue in the ear canal.
- In case of adverse reactions like severe earache or allergies, contact your GP and therapist.
- Note that ear-candles maintain ear canal cleanliness but do not replace necessary medical treatments.
What to do after cupping:
1. Stay well-hydrated, as water aids in flushing out toxins released during cupping.
2. Keep the cupped area(s) warm to enhance recovery.
3. Allow yourself to rest, as post-cupping fatigue or flu-like symptoms are temporary reactions.
What to avoid after cupping:
1. Steer clear of caffeine, alcohol, sugary foods, dairy, and processed meats for 4-6 hours post-cupping to facilitate effective processing of the treatment.
2. Avoid hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, and strong air conditioning to protect the sensitised skin.
3. Refrain from intense exercise and exposure to cold and windy conditions post-cupping.
Preparation tips for cupping:
1. Ensure hydration, as cupping supports the lymphatic system.
2. Eat about an hour before your appointment.
3. Avoid shaving the cupping area within four hours of your appointment.
4. Recover from sunburn before cupping.
5. Gentle exfoliation is advised 2 days after treatment, avoiding aggressive treatments a couple of days before cupping.
Accelerating recovery from cupping marks:
1. Circular marks post-cupping will fade naturally.
2. To expedite the process, stay hydrated, rest, and consider applying arnica cream after 48 hours (consult a pharmacist for advice).
After a Wet Cupping/Hijama treatment pls follow after care as mentioned above and in addition:
1. Do not scratch skin, if itchy as this is part of the skin healing process.
2. Keep marks well moisturised with coconut oil.
3. Do not pick any scabs as that will leave scarring on skin.
1. Listen to your body's signals for rest or activity.
2. Avoid bathing or showering for 12 hours post-session; then, take a salt bath within 24 hours if possible.
3. For 3 days, limit alcohol and caffeine, stay hydrated, eat light and healthy meals, get adequate rest, spend time in nature, meditate, minimise screen time, and notice your feelings, .
4. Healing reactions, like headaches or fatigue, may occur and usually dissipate within 3 days.
5. If symptoms persist, consult a medical professional.
6. Listen to your therapist, take notes, and follow personalised aftercare.
